We’re excited to share that Stahla Services was back on the air with Eric Dye for another episode of the Enterprise Radio (EPN) podcast! This time, our Co-owner, Grant Stahla, focused on one of our most specialized and versatile units: the ADA 1-Stall Restroom & Shower Trailer Combo.
It’s always a privilege to discuss how we provide accessible, comfortable, and comprehensive solutions for a wide range of needs nationwide. If you couldn’t tune in, we’ve got you covered with a full summary of the key insights Grant shared about this jack-of-all-trades trailer.
What We Discussed: The All-in-One ADA Combo Trailer
Grant started by explaining the unique position this trailer holds in our fleet. It’s designed to solve multiple problems at once, providing accessibility, restroom facilities, and shower capabilities in a single, compact unit. “It’s a really neat trailer that you can plug and play with maybe a bigger shower trailer or a bigger restroom trailer,” Grant explained, highlighting its flexibility.
Accessibility & Capacity: Who Needs This Trailer?
This trailer is built for specific situations where compliance and diverse needs are paramount.
Meeting Critical Needs: Grant emphasized its core function: “You’re able to provide a restroom, a shower and handicap accessible facilities… which is Americans with Disabilities Act Requirements.”
Event & Commercial Capacity: While it’s a single stall, it serves its purpose effectively.
- Events: “For events it’s about 1 stall per 75 guests. So this trailer would be about able to support about 75 guests at your event.”
- Job Sites: “You’re going to be looking at about 15 workers that you can support if it’s an office crew or construction and then that’s gonna be similar for showering as well.”
The “Plug and Play” Solution: This trailer is often the perfect addition to a larger setup. “If you have a couple 100 people, I would suggest getting this +2 stall restroom trailers,” Grant advised. It’s ideal for locker room remodels at golf clubs, church renovations, or any situation requiring a dedicated ADA-compliant option alongside other facilities.
Considering an ADA Combo? Let’s Talk!
Real-World Impact: A Memorable Story of the ADA Combo in Action
Eric asked for a story that brought the trailer’s utility to life. Grant shared a perfect example:
Supporting a Major Retailer: “Costco is 1 experience where we actually had this one stall, ADA restroom and shower combo trailer there… we were able to partition off the shower area and still have a handicap accessible restroom Ada trailer there and that was supplemental to an 8 stall restroom trailer. So we were able to support all of the customers and all the employees there with those two trailers.” This story perfectly illustrates its adaptability and its role in ensuring full accessibility during a large-scale facility disruption.
Understanding the Investment: ADA Combo Rental and Purchase Costs
This trailer’s advanced engineering is reflected in its cost. Grant broke down the numbers with full transparency:
- Purchasing New: Approximately $85,000. Grant explained the higher price tag: “It’s only one stall, but because it’s a handicap accessible restroom and shower trailer and it lowers all the way to the ground… it’s above ground because it has to lower all the way to the ground, and then there’s different pumps in there to be able to move move the waste… ends up being a very complicated trailer, hence the price tag.”
- Long-Term Commercial Rentals (per month):
- 1 Month: Approximately $7,999.
- 2-5 Months: Drops to $5,999 per month.
- 6+ Months: Around $5,249 per month.
- 18+ Months: As low as $4,199 per month.
- Short-Term & Emergency Rentals:
- Weekly: About $5,999 per week.
- Daily: About $1,300 per day (with a 7-day minimum). This is often for emergency response, like a water main break at a hospital or other critical facility.
A Unique Design: What This Trailer Looks and Feels Like
Grant painted a vivid picture of this trailer’s unique appearance and functionality:
First Impression: “Well, if you’ve ever seen an ice fishing camper out on the ice, it’s kind of what it looks like here. You’re all the way to the ground and it kind of looks like a cube… a box on the ground.”
Key Features:
- Ground-Level Access: The entire trailer lowers to the ground, eliminating the need for stairs. “The wheels actually lift up inside of the unit.”
- Aluminum Ramp: A long aluminum ramp (12 to 16 feet) provides easy wheelchair access into the single door.
- Exterior: You’ll see one main entrance door, a smaller mechanical room door, and a large propane tank on the front to power the on-demand water heater.
The Technicals: Water, Power, and Transportation Essentials
The specialized nature of this trailer comes with specific technical details:
Dimensions & Weight:
- Length: 14-foot box with a 4-foot tongue.
- Weight: About 4,300 lbs empty.
- Axle: A single 6,000 lb “drop axle.”
Tanks:
- Fresh Water: 140 gallons.
- Wastewater: 320 gallons (uniquely designed to be above ground).
Electrical: Requires 1 to 4 standard 110V connections, depending on seasonal needs (more are needed in winter to power heaters).
The “Magic” of Setup: Grant described the fascinating setup process. “The jacks are hydraulic… you lift the entire trailer up, and then you pull a pin in the axle for the single axle and it’s called a drop axle… you just lower the trailer and it actually lowers all the way to the ground because that axle has a hinge and it rotates up… a really neat way for everyone to be able to access that trailer.”
More Than Just Trailers: Our Commitment
As we’ve shared before, Grant and Erin Stahla are driven by a mission that goes beyond business. They are passionate about redefining portable sanitation through a company built on caring for people, delivering service excellence, and leading with faith. This includes their dedicated support of organizations like Love Justice International. This core commitment to integrity and service is woven into every interaction at Stahla Services.
Another Great Conversation on EPN!
We are deeply grateful to Eric Dye and the Enterprise Radio team for providing another platform to discuss how we meet the diverse sanitation needs of communities and industries.
Grant’s final thought perfectly sums up this unit: “Oh well, this is a Jack of all trades. It’s a master of being one stall that does it all. So if you need a handicap accessible stall and you need a restroom and you need a shower, I would choose this trailer.”
If the ADA 1-Stall Restroom & Shower Combo sounds like the right solution for your event, project, or emergency, we are here to help you configure the perfect setup.
